Abstract SubmissionPoster Presentation Information and Guidelines
Each presenter is provided with a 90 cm wide by 120 cm height laminated poster board and will be arranged in PORTRAIT format. Please prepare your poster to fit this size.
The presentation must cover the same material as the abstract submitted.
Posters should be clear and easy to read. Font size should be sufficiently large to allow people to read from one and half to two meters away.
Avoid overload - too much information seriously detracts from the overall impact. LESS IS BEST!
Posters will be assigned to a poster board number listed in our Conference Program Book (distributed at conference site). Find your assigned poster board to display your poster.
Posters must be displayed prior to the scheduled Poster Session and must be taken away at the end of each group session. Remember that the presenting author is expected to be present at the poster during the session in which the poster is included.
Remember to include the title, the names of the authors and their affiliations at the top of your poster - you might also like to include a small photo of the presenting author to help other delegates identify who they want to talk to!
Do not mail your poster to the conference site as there will not be anyone to accept your presentation at this location.
Discussions should be held in front of your posters.
Poster should be self-explanatory so that you are free to supplement and discuss any points of inquiry. The poster session provides a more intimate forum for discussion than an oral presentation. This becomes difficult if you are obliged to devote most of your time explaining your poster to a succession of visitors.

Oral Presentation Information
Each contributed oral presentation will be allocated 17 minutes for presentation, with an additional three minutes for questions and session chairs will be instructed to stop any presentations that run-over to allow time for the changeover of speakers. Please ensure that you plan your presentation to fit within this schedule.
The Chair will warn you when you have five minutes (of the 17) remaining, again with two minutes (of the 17) remaining, and will hold up a STOP sign when you reach the end of your allocated 17 minutes!
Please prepare your presentations using either PowerPoint or pdf formats, running under Windows. We recommend that you save your PowerPoint presentation as a PowerPoint Show (.pps) file rather than as a .ppt file, as this format is more transferable between platforms.
Please bring your presentation on a USB flash memory.
Please arrive at the designated lecture room for your session at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the session, to allow time to check that your presentation is correctly uploaded. You should introduce yourself to the session Chair when you arrive, and expect to stay in that room for the whole session, not just for your presentation.
Remember that although all presentations should be given in English, not all delegates have English as their first language, so try not to speak too fast!
When answering any questions at the end of your presentation, remember to speak to the whole audience, not just to the person who asked the question.
Guidelines for Abstract Submission
The Organizing Committee of the 8th conference of the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the International Biometric Society (EMR-IBS) invites professionals interested in biostatistics, biometry, epidemiology and bioinformatics to submit abstracts of papers relevant to the topics of the conference for presentation at the conference. Proposals for oral or poster presentations are welcome.
Kindly note that abstracts should be submitted via website guidelines only.
Abstract Submission Dates:
Abstract submission will open September 1, 2014
Deadline for submission is January 23, 2015
Notification of acceptance will be issued by February 13, 2015
Presenters of accepted abstracts must be registered before February 28, 2015
Size: Single A4 paper
Word Count: 300 words
Font: Times New Roman, single spaced, justified
Font size: 12 pt.
Margins: "Normal" layout in Word: 2.54 cm top, bottom, left and right
Title: All in upper case
Authors: First Name, Middle initial is optional, Last Name. Please underline the presenter's name.
Key Words: 3- 5 keywords
For your convenience you may download the "Abstract submission template" which conforms to these guidelines. Kindly overwrite this template with your abstract and save it on your computer.At the end of the submission process you will be asked to upload your saved abstract.
After submission you will receive an automated confirmation to your email address.

- By submitting an abstract the author grants the conference committee the right to publish it.
- By submitting this abstract you agree that the slides of your presentation at the conference may be published on this site after the conference.
- All abstracts will be confidentially reviewed by the conference Scientific Committee that consists of leading professionals from local and international biostatistics academic bodies.
- The decision on acceptance of proposals for oral and poster presentations will be made by the conference organizers.
- Presenters are kindly requested to block the Congress dates of May 11-15, 2015 in their calendars until they receive notification of submission outcome.
- Presenters of accepted abstracts are required to register for the conference before February 28, 2015
- Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference book of abstracts distributed to the conference participants.
- The invitation to submit an abstract does not imply in any way an offer to contribute to the presenter's expenses or registration fees associated with the conference.
